Nutritional Consultations
Before the consultation you will be sent a questionnaire and food diary to complete and return. Once received, this will be confirmation of your booking and allows for a pre-consultation analysis. Your intake of fats, carbohydrates and proteins, as well as vitamins, minerals and other micro-nutrients will be assessed to identify any biochemical imbalances that may be contributing to your specific health problems.
First Consultation
The initial consultation will last 75 minutes. During this time the Nutritional Therapist will ask further questions based around the information you have provided on the questionnaire and food diary. You will then receive an explanation on how nutrition and diet is contributing to your health. Thereafter you will be provided with specific dietary recommendations to help you achieve your health goals.
All explanations and recommendations provided at the consultation will be included in your personal nutritional action plan. You will also be provided with supporting information sheets that are applicable to your specific health concerns.
Sometimes it is necessary to recommend nutritional supplements to make your programme more effective. The Nutritional Therapist will explain why supplements are recommended and also provide you with details of how to obtain them together with details of cost.
Follow up consultations
The first follow up consultation is usually scheduled for 2 weeks after the initial consultation. Thereafter it is appropriate to see your Nutritional Therapist approximately 4 weeks later (for most conditions). Follow up consultations will last 45 minutes. They are designed to monitor your progress, make any necessary adjustments to your programme as well as provide support and motivation.
Post-consultation suppport
It is perfectly natural to think of questions after the consultation and that is why all clients at the Nutrition and Health Clinic are given the opportunity to contact their Nutritional Therapist by email or telephone with any enquiries.
